Background
Always encouraged by her family to be active growing up, Courtney competed in a number of sports, including cross-country skiing, equestrian, soccer and track & field. In 1992, she was named to Athletics Canada’s National Paralympic team. Over the next 15 years, Courtney was a consistent Paralympic medallist in the discus and pentathlon disciplines. However, in early 2006, after attending a CCC Paralympic development camp, Courtney decided to shift her focus towards cross-country skiing in hopes of qualifying for the 2010 Paralympic Games. For someone used to speed and power training programs, the change to an endurance sport has definitely been interesting, but one that Courtney is very much enjoying.
