Background:

Brittany Webster is quickly emerging into one of the most talented skiers on Canadian snow. At just 19 years old, Brittany is proof it is never too late to begin your Olympic dream. She only began cross-country ski racing in high school.  Brittany made her first tracks in the sport of cross-country skiing in Grade 9, and although she could barely stand on her skis let alone glide on the snow, she was captivated by the entire experience.  By Grade 11, she quickly developed from baby steps on skis for the first time into an athlete ready for her first race. Brittany entered her first Ontario Cup, and had joined a club where she learned how to classic ski.  In two years she was named to the Senior National Ski Team, and captured her first National Championship title.

These few highlights only scratch the surface of what was definitely a dream season for a rookie skier. Among a number of Haywood NORAM victories, and a gold medal in the distance race at the U.S. Nationals, Brittany skied to a sixth-place finish at the World Junior Championships in Tarvisio, Italy.

She broke her leg in the fall of 08 when she missed a blind corner on her mountain bike. She spent a year and a half rehabbing and came back to race the 08/09 season where she medalled consistently in NORAM’s and some European Continental Cup races.

As a result, Brittany now truly believes that anything is possible if your passion, love and determination are strong enough.  She loves every minute of her life as an athlete, and hopes this love will take her to the top of the international podium.

When she’s not skiing, Brittany’s passion for life can be found riding horses. Horses have been the centre of her life since she was a little girl, and she takes every chance she can get to be with them. Brittany is currently enrolled in a Human Sciences Program at Athabasca University in hopes to become a physiotherapist after she is done skiing.
