At the start of the 2010-11 ski season, Cross Country Canada (CCC) developed a Para-Nordic Canadian Points List (PN-CPL) to provide the Para-Nordic community with a national points ranking system similar to that for able-bodied competitors. In 2013 we are pleased to publish the third"end of year" PN-CPL after three successful season's of developing this ranking system.
We started the 2012-2013 season with 23 reference skiers to determine the values for domestic races. The 2012-2013 PN-CPL includes points earned at both domestic and international events for 30 participating athletes 16 of whom qualified as reference skiers for next season.
The PN CPL system is not yet a fully reliable and representative system because of relatively low participation levels domestically. CCC does not recommend using the PN-CPL for team selection purposes at this time. With more reference skiers and an increasing participation at the domestic level the system's reliability and accuracy will improve. Hopefully it will soon get to a stage where the PN-CPL is reliable enough to be used in selection processes.
