Planning for World Cup 2012 moves into high gear…

    Some major milestones in April and May have been achieved – allowing the detailed planning and preparations for World Cup 2012 to move into high gear. These milestones included:
    • A successful site visit by FIS officials in early May
    • Confirmation of funding from all the major funding partners
    • Completion of bidding processes for hotel, host broadcasts and transportation contracts, and
    • Confirmation of the race dates and formats by the FIS Congress in Korea at the end of May.

    As a result, the Organizing Committee is now able to move forward with more specific planning details, equipment orders and additional service contracts. There is activity in all areas – venue and facilities, in-field production and stadium announcers, event marketing and local sponsorship recruitment, volunteer recruitment, Christmas Festival and downtown activities, and of course across the range of activities of the Competition Committee under Chief of Race Mike Norton.

We are planning for a really great stage show to introduce and follow each race, with significantly better video display, children’s play area, and more viewing opportunities for spectators”...
