Levi Nadlersmith qualified at an event in Sovereign Lake, B.C. last weekend.

The teen claimed first place in the juvenile boys' 10 km race, dashing across the finish line more than a minute ahead of fellow Manitoban and second place finisher Conor McGovern of the Red River Nordic ski club. More than 35 skiers were registered to complete in his class.

"I was pretty excited," Nadlersmith said. "I was overjoyed… It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for sure."

"When you're doing interval start races you don't really know exactly where you are. I had a few coaches yelling splits at me so I had a pretty good idea I was out front," he added. "I was pretty excited and kind of relieved when I crossed the line."
