    • CCC Turns to Pearsall for Top Job

      Cross Country Canada wasted no time in finding a replacement for executive director Pierre Lafontaine, naming Shane Pearsall as the new head of the organization on Nov. 29.

      Pearsall was chief operating officer of Bobsled Canada Skeleton for three years, and was also the Chef de Mission of Canada’s 2006 Canadian Olympic Team. He has worked in the oil and gas industry since 2006.

      “I’m excited for the opportunity. I’ve been working in the oil industry for the last little bit, and we know what’s been happening in that industry. I was looking for work and looking to get involved with sports again,” Pearsall told the Outlook.

      Pearsall was a member of Canada’s national hockey program in 1980, had a tryout with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and worked as a hockey coach for 20 years. He attended the University of Toronto, where he earned a Bachelor of Economics, and has many contacts throughout the Canadian business community, which CCC believes will help the organization.
