    1) Feb 9-25. Olympics Pyeongchang, Korea

So, the day we have been waiting four years for, is fast approaching. Cue up your DVR or store up on coffee, as the 2018 Olympics start up Saturday morning at 2:15 am EST, (we think), with the woman's skiathlon live on CBC TV.

Sochi is a bit of a distant memory, with very challenging waxing conditions, urine samples getting passed through walls in the middle of the night, and less than expected results for the Canadian team.

This time round, Alex Harvey is on a roll, a medal favourite going into the Games, international sports authorities are fumbling the doping football on a consistent basis , the snow is rumoured to be abrasive because the prevailing winds bring the occasional grains of sand from the Gobi desert, and clean Canadian skiers are ready to test their abilities against the rest of the World's best, on what is hopefully a level playing field.

The Canadian team is led by a mixture of veterans like Devon Kershaw and Alex Harvey, who had outstanding Olympic results in 2010, and young Canadian skiers like Dahria Beatty and Ann-Marie Comeau. With Alex the best medal bet among them all.

With the difference in time zones, the races will be televised live early in the morning EST. Use this CBC TV schedule to check out the time and network. You can also download a CBC Olympic app for your smartphone.
