It was a beautiful day in Davos, Switzerland, just below zero, as the final World Cup race before Christmas got underway with interval start, skate races.

In the women's 10k, Canada's Emily Nishikawa got off to a fast start, ranking 11th at 5k, before settling for a 23rd place and World Cup points, at the finish.

The Davos courses seem to suit Emily as in 2014 she claimed her first World Cup points there, 29th,  in a 10k classic race. Today's placing ties her best result on the circuit, 23rd in Lahti in 2015 also in a 10k, in her stronger classic style technique.

Cendrine Browne was Canada's other racer in the event, finishing 44th.

Therese Johaug of Norway was first, her 5th straight distance win since her return to competition. 2nd was Johaug's teammate Ingvild Oestberg and Krista Parmakoski of Finland was 3rd.
