      Here is the latest news from the head office of 2011 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.

      I addition to 21 competitions within Cross-Country, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined, the championships will also consist of a variety of cultural events in the Oslo city centre. Click here for the cultural program

      Munch in snow and ice

      During the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 you can wander into the world of Edvard Munch at Karl Johan Street in Oslo. Spectacular sculptures of snow and ice shaped from Edvard Munch's well-known motifs will adorn the area from the Palace Hill (Slottsbakken) to Spikersuppa during the WSC.

      Join the women's ski jumping festivities!

      You are invited to participate in creating a great atmosphere during the women's ski jumping event at Midstubakken on Friday, February 25th. The first 1000 who register will receive free entry to the event, and those who create the greatest atmosphere win monetary prizes.

      50 km at Holmenkollen - the world's hardest ski course

      The 50 km course at Holmenkollen is thought to be the world's hardest ski course due to its challenging uphill slopes. FIS Nordic World Ski Championship 2011 Sports Director John Aalberg thinks everyone in the cross-country skiing community will consider the winner of the 50 km race the toughest skier in the WSC.

      The WSC has taken over the arena

      On January 21st the FIS Nordic World Ski Championship 2011 and the Chairman of the Board, Svein Aaser, formally took over the Holmenkollen national arena from the Oslo municipality. At a press conference at Holmenkollen the key was ceremoniously handed over from Mayor Fabian Stang.

      Presented the WSC certified restaurants

      55 WSC certified restaurants and caf├ęs in Oslo and the surrounding area will be showcasing Norwegian food culture to Norwegian and foreign guests during the FIS Nordic World Ski Championship.
