World Senior Championships
First held in 1924 the FIS World Nordic Championships are hosted every 2nd year and become the focal point of the cross-country season. The Championships include the 3 Nordic disciplines of Cross-Country, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined. 21 cross-country events were contested at the 2011 World Nordic Championships in Oslo, Norway. Canada has two World Championship medals in the 90 year history of the event, a sprint bronze by Sara Renner in 2005 and a team sprint gold by Alex Harvey and Devon Kershaw at the 2011 Championships in Oslo. The next FIS World Nordic Championships will be staged in Val de Fiemme, Italy in 2013.
