      A Message from Anne Merklinger

On behalf of the Own the Podium, I would like to congratulate everyone in Canada's high performance sport community on the completion of another successful winter sport quadrennial where our nation's best Olympic and Paralympic athletes performed well in Sochi.

Please join me in congratulating every athlete and coach who contributed to Canada's medal tally. You are all Canadian heroes and can inspire a generation to pursue their podium in sport and physical activity.

Canada's winter sport athletes enjoyed their best-ever finish at an Olympic Winter Games on foreign soil where they racked up 25 medals including 10 gold, 10 silver and five bronze. Canada's Paralympic athletes achieved their goal of a top-three performance in the overall gold medal count. Led by Brian McKeever's three gold medals at the nordic venue, Canada's new look team of athletes won a total of 16 medals including 7 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze.

With Sochi 2014 now behind us, and a little more than 800 days remaining until the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games in Rio, Own the Podium is committed to keeping our government, corporate and sport partners informed of what is happening in our fast moving world.

Be it with our summer or winter sport program, we will continue to be unwavering in our pursuit for international excellence both in the boardroom and on the playing field. We continue to seek ways to deliver the necessary technical and financial support our athletes need to compete for the podium. With that in mind, we are committed to the same level of professionalism and success in our business operations.

In this edition of Podium Pursuit, we will highlight key milestones in Sochi, introduce you to some of our new team members including Peter Judge, Own the Podium's new director of winter sport, receive a progress report around our winter sport review meetings, and keep an eye on what's on the radar.

I look forward to working with each of you on the road to 2016, 2018 and beyond.
