It is a great pleasure to invite you to Whistler Olympic Park and the 2013 Haywood Ski Nationals. Members of the Callaghan Valley Cross Country Ski Club have prepared for over a year to welcome skiers from across the country March 23-30, 2013. Cross Country Canada is pleased to welcome back Haywood Securities Inc. as title sponsor of the 86th annual Championships event.
As part of the Sea to Sky Nordic Festival, the Ski Nationals also includes the Canadian Colleges and University Championships (CCUNC) and the Canadian Para-Nordic Ski Championships.
Integrated into the championship format in 2000, the CCUNC event will recognize the top school teams in both genders in addition to best six (6) All Canadian men and women. Aggregate scores are based on the results of the team sprint, the two interval start competitions and the sprints.
At the 2003 Ski Nationals, race categories for Athletes with a Disability were first introduced. Since that time the fields have steadily grown to include sit and standing classes for Para-Nordic skiers in both genders. Canada's strong showing at the 2006 and 2010 Paralympics is reflected in this growth. In 2011, Para-Nordic events were introduced at the Canada Winter Games and we look forward to many first time Para-Nordic skiers visiting Whistler as they hone their skills in preparation for the 2015 Games in Prince George, BC.
