Haywood RACE Report: Jones 17th, Saurette 29th at YOG

    There were ideal ski conditions in Seefeld, Austria today as the inaugral Youth Olympics cross-country ski races took place a men's 10k and women's 5k classic

    Matthew Saurette of Edmonton was 29th in a field of 48 competitors from over 40 countries, that was won by Alexander Selyaninov of Russia.  Japan's Kentaro Ishikawa and Kazakhstan's Sergey Malyshev were 2nd and 3rd. Andreas Veerpalu of Estonia was 8th.  Men's Results

    The women's race was won by Russian skier  Anastasia Sedova with Maya Macisaac-Jones from Athabasca finishing 17th. Slovenia did well in the race capturing 2n and 3rd position with Anamarija Lampic and  Lea Einfalt also placing on the podium.

    Races continue on Thurdsay with a free technique sprint, and the final race will see a mixed relay between 2 male and female cross country and biathlon athletes.
