Three Cross Country Canada members awarded at the Sasksport's Saskatchewan Sports Award 2011

    SaskSport have made their announcement on Saskatchewan Sports Award winners for 2011.

    SaskSport honours 3 CCC members, Colette Bourgonje, Para-Nordic National Team member; Jeff Whiting, retired CCC Staff member and Dan Brisbin, CCC Board member.

    Congrats Colette Bourgonje, Para-Nordic National Team member, on being one of the 3 finalist for the Female Athlete of the Year.  Hopefully Colette can be named as the Saskatchewan Female Athlete of the Year 2 years in a row! 

    Sask Sport Inc. will be announcing the recipients of the 2011 Saskatchewan Athlete of the Year Awards on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 10 a.m.  The media release will feature the recipients for each of the Athlete of the Year Award categories – master, youth-male, youth-female, male, female and team. The release will also be posted on the Sask Sport Inc. website at www.sasksport.sk.ca at that time.

    Coach Dedication Award - Male

    Jeff Whiting, along with a team of coaches has helped coach many athletes to high profile competitions, such as the Paralympic Games, the World Cup, and IPC World Cups over the past 23 years.

    Officials' Awards

    Dan Brisbin runner-up for the Officials' Awards

    Dan began officiating at the local level at weekly races and Saskatoon Nordic Ski Club (SNSC) organized SaskCup races. He traveled to Canmore, Alberta to attain higher certification, because Officials course conductors certification wasn't available in the province. He has worked as a CCC Divisional TD at 3 CCS and 1 Cross Country Alberta (CCA Provincial races series races from 2010 to 2011.
