The Sport
Cross-country skiing is Canada’s optimal winter sport and recreation. Some two million Canadians participate annually. Cross-country skiing is an activity with “no boundaries” for age, region, gender or conditioning level. It is easy to learn and its benefits for health and fitness are well known and unmatched.
For some cross-country skiers, competition is the primary focus and excellence is the desired result. For others, the primary motivation is the personal enjoyment derived from a “lifestyle” activity which takes place in the pristine silence of Canada’s winter.
Regardless of the nature or the level of their aspirations, all cross-country skiers belong to a “community” in which a love of the sport is the common denominator. CCC exists to create a national focus and forum for this community.
The Association
CCC is the national sport governing body for cross-country skiing in Canada, recognized as such by Sport Canada, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), Own The Podium and other organizations involved in the Canadian sport system. CCC is also recognized internationally by the Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS) through its membership in the Canadian Snowsports Association (CSA).
CCC is an incorporated, not-for-profit Association. It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, elected by the Voting Members of the Association to govern the Association on their behalf. Its day-to-day operations are managed by the Executive Director and a full-time staff.
